Technical Lead

V2Soft•Bloomfield Hills, MI

About The Position

V2Soft is hiring a Technical Lead to lead technical delivery for a healthcare payer care management estate. This hands-on role holds design authority across the applications and their interfaces, leads and develops a mixed onshore/offshore engineering team, and serves as the client's main technical contact. The Technical Lead works in the code while leading the team, translating client and business priorities into deliverable technical work and keeping stakeholders informed about risks, progress, and dependencies. The role owns code-level investigation of complex defects and root-cause analysis, establishes coding standards and review gates, and ensures release quality. It assesses change impacts across large, incompletely documented dependency chains and plans staged modernization of legacy applications while keeping risk low for live production systems. It also introduces AI-assisted development practices for code understanding, documentation, test generation, and refactoring, with appropriate safeguards for a regulated environment. The Technical Lead coaches engineers across locations, develops technical depth and team ownership, and runs the onshore/offshore operating model, including time-zone handoffs, work allocation, acceptance criteria, knowledge transfer, and consistent quality. Designs and changes must meet healthcare regulatory and data-protection requirements, including HIPAA, PHI handling, and auditability.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 5 years in a Tech Lead or equivalent role.
  • 5+ years of healthcare payer experience, ideally in care management, utilization management, or clinical and member-facing systems.
  • Working knowledge of payer data and workflows, including members, eligibility, authorizations, claims, and providers.
  • 5+ years leading and coaching engineering teams, including developing engineers, using code reviews as a teaching tool, and building team capability.
  • 4+ years delivering in an onshore/offshore model, including leading distributed teams across time zones and establishing knowledge-transfer and handoff practices.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience modernizing legacy applications.
  • 1+ year of practical experience using AI tools for software development, such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar, including for legacy-code understanding, documentation, test generation, and refactoring.
  • 10+ years of deep Oracle and PL/SQL experience.
  • 8+ years of Java experience across versions from 1.8 onward.
  • 6+ years of integration architecture experience, including interface engines, EDI, file-based integration, and API integration.
  • Ability to reverse-engineer undocumented systems and create needed documentation.
  • Credibility with client architects and third-party platform vendors.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years with Cognizant CareAdvance, including design or technical leadership on the platform and its payer custom-code layer.
  • Experience with Client Cross plans or other large US health plans.
  • Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7 and FHIR, and with CMS interoperability requirements.

  • Bring AI-assisted development into daily team practices for code understanding, documentation, test generation, and refactoring, with safeguards appropriate to a regulated environment.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor the engineering team across onshore and offshore locations; develop technical depth, review work, and build team ownership.
  • Run the onshore/offshore operating model, including daily time-zone handoffs, work allocation, acceptance criteria, and consistent quality standards.
