About The Position

The Technical Intern 3 will participate in BAE Systems' nationwide LEAP Internship & Co-op Program, which offers opportunities to learn, engage, apply skills, progress professionally, work with experienced professionals on impactful projects, and network with business leaders and other students. The intern will join the Space Vehicle Engineering department, which supports satellite technical success by verifying that components function individually and as an integrated system. Its work spans the product lifecycle, from conception and proposal writing through design, assembly, testing, launch, and on-orbit operations. The position is within the Engineering, Science and Analysis Strategic Capabilities Unit, whose cross-functional teams develop and deliver technologies for customer missions. Depending on skills and interests, the intern will be embedded in a project team supporting the development and verification of next-generation spacecraft. Work may include hands-on integration and testing of flight hardware and support equipment; writing, reviewing, and executing test scripts and procedures; developing and tracking requirements; risk assessments and trade studies; digital engineering and system modeling; performance-data analysis and technical reporting; collaboration with ground systems, simulators, and flight software teams; and technical presentations to peers, management, and government customers. The role requires regular, predictable scheduling and effective working relationships and interactions. It is an onsite position requiring in-person work five days during each normally scheduled week at the primary work location. Travel and local commuting between company campuses and other locations may be required. Work may take place in an office, laboratory, production floor, cleanroom, outdoors, or a remote research environment.
