About The Position

Stored Energy Systems (SENS) is seeking a technically capable, curious, and personable individual to grow into a professional Technical Instructor. This role is ideal for technicians and technical professionals who enjoy teaching, mentoring, demonstrating equipment, explaining troubleshooting, or helping customers understand technical systems. SENS will provide training on instructional skills and product knowledge. This position offers a unique career path for those with hands-on experience in fields like field service, maintenance, or installation, allowing them to leverage their technical expertise in a new direction without daily field work. The role involves developing professional skills in technical instruction, curriculum development, hands-on lab instruction, presentation, and adult learning, while building expertise in industrial power-conversion technology. It is part of a defined career path within Training & Development, with potential cross-functional opportunities in Field Service, Customer Support, and other technical areas.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience working with electrical, electronic, mechanical, industrial, energy, maintenance, field-service, or similar technical systems.
  • Associate’s degree, trade degree, technical certification, or 2 years equivalent hands-on experience in an electrical, energy, or technical field.
  • Ability to understand technical systems and explain how they work.
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to help others learn through mentoring, peer training, customer support, demonstrations, presentations, or formal instruction.
  • Strong curiosity and willingness to research unfamiliar technical topics.
  • Organized and dependable, with attention to technical accuracy.
  • Comfortable working collaboratively with people from different technical disciplines.
  • Ability to travel occasionally.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with LMS platforms, instructional design, video production, or e-learning.
  • Experience with any combination of the following: Industrial electrical or electronics, Field service or equipment troubleshooting, Battery or DC power systems, UPS or backup-power equipment, Generators, Industrial controls or automation, Solar or energy systems, EV charging, Telecom power, HVAC controls, Manufacturing maintenance, Instrumentation, Military electronics or electrical systems, Customer technical support, Commissioning or applications support, Technical documentation, Training or mentoring technicians, Classroom or customer instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Learn SENS products, electrical fundamentals, applications, installation practices, and troubleshooting methods.
  • Assist with and eventually independently deliver classroom, virtual, and hands-on technical training.
  • Demonstrate equipment operation, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain training equipment, labs, demonstrations, and instructional materials.
  • Help evaluate students through written assessments, hands-on exercises, and practical demonstrations.
  • Work with Engineering, Field Service, Product Management, and Customer Support to understand real-world technical issues.
  • Help improve training presentations, procedures, labs, and technical documentation.
  • Partner with our digital content resources to develop videos and online technical learning.
