About The Position
Stages at the J (The Jewish Community Center’s Youth Theatre program) offers performance opportunities for students with a wide range of talents and background in theatre. We are currently seeking an instructor to help with technical direction for 101 Dalmatians Kids and How To Train Your Dragon Jr. for students ranging from 2nd through 12th grade.
Requirements
- Prior experience with stage/theatre productions, preferably school aged productions
- Experience in elementary education and teaching a variety of ages and skill levels, especially 2nd -12th grade
- Ability to provide exemplary customer service to students and their parents/guardians
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students of all ages and abilities
Nice To Haves
- B.F.A. or other degree related to teaching or theatre preferred, but not required
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and fun environment
- Oversee and assist in set building and prop sourcing for student production
- Be prepared and dressed to reflect a positive image of The J
- Oversee scenic painting and instruct on techniques
- Communicate with supervisor about any problems and concerns in the classroom
