About The Position

This role involves the design, building, and maintenance of entertainment show props and elements. Technicians will utilize a variety of materials and techniques, including sculpting, mold making, casting, painting, and working with specialized materials like silicone, urethane, and latex. Proficiency in 3D modeling, design software, and 3D printing is essential for creating prototypes and functional props. Responsibilities also include preparing drawings, participating in design meetings, and ensuring the proper completion of documentation and safety procedures.

Requirements

  • Associate degree (AA) preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in related field preferred.
  • 6-10 years’ experience in maintaining and repair of scenic elements and Entertainment show props (for Tech I).
  • 6-10 years’ experience with different painting and airbrush techniques (for Tech I).
  • 5-8 years’ experience with 3D and design programs (for Tech I).
  • 3-6 years’ experience in maintaining and repair scenic elements and Entertainment show props (for Tech II).
  • 3-6 years’ experience with different painting and airbrush techniques (for Tech II).
  • 3-5 years’ experience with 3D and design programs (for Tech II).
  • 2-4 years’ experience in maintaining and repair of scenic elements and Entertainment show props (for Tech III).
  • 2-4 years’ experience with different painting and airbrush techniques (for Tech III).
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build Entertainment show props and elements.
  • Create models and drawings using 3D modeling/design programs and software.
  • Take concept artwork and create functional show props.
  • Use knowledge of 3D printing process and materials to create rapid prototypes.
  • Participate in design meetings and brainstorming sessions.
  • Sculpting, mold making, casting, pigmentation, painting, working with silicone, urethane, and latex materials.
  • Airbrush usage and techniques, working with hair, feather and fur, and other materials as needed.
  • Prepare drawings from existing concept art, modify existing drawings or layouts.
  • Develop color boards, models, and novel concept solutions.
  • Program and run rapid prototyping equipment such as 3D printers, CNC machines, and laser cutting.
  • Fabrication and repairing various props and molds by utilizing appropriate techniques, materials, and processes.
  • Assess, mix and apply airbrush and/or faux paint techniques, automotive paint applications as well as wet/dry brush and sponge painting.
  • Ensure proper completion of documentation relating to work performed.
  • Use basic mechanical and carpentry skills for repair and/or modification of molds, figures and/or props.
  • Maintain equipment, tools, supplies and keeping workstation and area clean.
  • Actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities.
  • Perform routine inspections of Entertainment Show props and elements.
  • Update material information and repair logs.
