About The Position

This role involves the design, building, and maintenance of entertainment show props and elements. Responsibilities span across various craft disciplines including sculpting, mold making, casting, pigmentation, painting, and working with diverse materials such as silicone, urethane, latex, hair, feather, and fur. The position requires knowledge of various prop-making materials and tools. Additionally, the role may involve creating models and drawings using 3D modeling/design software and operating rapid prototyping equipment like 3D printers, CNC machines, and laser cutters to produce functional props and prototypes for demonstrations and concept meetings. Basic mechanical and carpentry skills are also necessary for prop repair and modification. A strong emphasis is placed on Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Associate degree (AA) preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in related field preferred.
  • 6-10 years’ experience in maintaining and repair of scenic elements and Entertainment show props.
  • 6-10 years’ experience with different painting and airbrush techniques.
  • 5-8 years’ experience with 3D and design programs.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-6 years’ experience in maintaining and repair scenic elements and Entertainment show props.
  • 3-6 years’ experience with different painting and airbrush techniques.
  • 3-5 years’ experience with 3D and design programs.
  • 2-4 years’ experience in maintaining and repair of scenic elements and Entertainment show props.

  • Valid Florida driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare drawings from existing concept art, modify existing drawings or layouts, and participate in design meetings while presenting ideas to a team.
  • Develop color boards, models, and novel concept solutions while keeping design intent intact.
  • Program and run rapid prototyping equipment such as 3D printers, CNC machines, and laser cutting to quickly create working show props for demonstrations, concept meetings, and use in the parks.
  • Fabricate and repair various props and molds by utilizing appropriate techniques, materials, and processes.
  • Properly assess, mix and apply airbrush and/or faux paint techniques, automotive paint applications as well as wet/dry brush and sponge painting, including proper preparation of work to be painted or finished.
  • Ensure proper completion of documentation relating to work performed.
  • Use basic mechanical and carpentry skills that include the use of various tools for the repair and/or modification of molds, figures and/or props.
  • Maintain equipment, tools, supplies and keeping workstation and area clean.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Using 3D modeling/design software, create drawings of new or existing Entertainment show elements or props.
  • Operates rapid prototyping equipment such as 3D printers, CNC machines, and laser cutting to quickly create working show props for demonstrations, concept meetings and use in parks.
  • Perform routine inspections of Entertainment Show props and elements, including handheld props and Entertainment set pieces.
  • Completion of documentation of work including updating material information and repair logs.
