Proven Business Systems LLCFranklin, TN
$70,000 - $85,000Hybrid

About The Position

The Healthcare IT Technical Engineer is a highly customer-facing, mid-level technical planning and engineering role supporting healthcare organizations, with a specialized focus on Ambulatory Surgical Centers (ASCs). Working directly with center administrators, business stakeholders, vendors, and internal teams, the engineer assesses new-client and existing-location environments, validates requirements, documents standards alignment and deficiencies, and develops Project Summaries, Executive Project Summaries, Technical Statements of Work (SOWs), technology roadmaps, and budget forecasts. Typical environments consist primarily of Microsoft 365, Cisco Meraki, and basic single-site network infrastructure. The role translates business and operational needs into secure, supportable technology initiatives, communicates practical recommendations, supports routine client check-ins and QBRs, and transitions approved work to delivery teams. It is not intended to serve as front-line support or as the primary owner of routine administration, monitoring, incident response, or day-to-day troubleshooting. Work is primarily remote, with travel required for assessments, technical surveys, planning meetings, and project support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience and professional certifications may substitute.
  • 3+ years of progressive Tier II-level systems, network, Microsoft 365, or managed services experience.
  • Experience supporting healthcare, Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC), or another regulated environment preferred, with working knowledge of HIPAA privacy and security considerations.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365, including licensing, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, MFA, Intune, and Entra ID.
  • Practical knowledge of Cisco Meraki, basic single-site networking, endpoints, Windows Server, Active Directory, backups, virtualization, and cloud services sufficient to identify common deficiencies and determine when senior review is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct technical discovery, validate evidence, identify gaps, and translate findings into recommendations, engineer requests, quotes, roadmaps, budget estimates, Project Summaries, and basic SOWs.
  • Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills, including the ability to explain technical recommendations and manage multiple concurrent assessments and planning priorities.
  • Experience with ticketing, quoting, documentation, and CRM platforms; familiarity with IT Glue or a comparable documentation system is preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and operate with high professional integrity in healthcare client environments.
  • Ability to travel to client locations as required, climb stairs and ladders, work in confined spaces such as server closets, and lift up to 35 pounds.

  • Equivalent current certifications and demonstrated hands-on experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct structured new-client assessments and existing-location reviews, including remote discovery, onsite walkthroughs, evidence collection, and infrastructure validation.
  • Evaluate findings against established technology, security, documentation, and operational standards; document deficiencies, risks, dependencies, and recommended actions.
  • Prepare Project Summaries, Executive Project Summaries, and Technical SOWs for new clients, remediation efforts, and approved technology initiatives.
  • Maintain location-level standards records, prioritized deficiency plans, multi-year technology roadmaps, lifecycle schedules, and planning-level IT budgets.
  • Assess common Microsoft 365, Intune, Entra ID, limited Azure, Cisco Meraki, ISP, endpoint, server, backup, and basic network requirements against approved standards.
  • Develop clear technical requirements, assumptions, exclusions, estimates, and quotes using approved standards, offerings, and validated client requirements.
  • Create, update, and prioritize Quote/Engineer tickets; track required inputs, next actions, dependencies, and committed dates through completion or handoff.
  • Maintain accurate assessment evidence, inventories, diagrams, standards records, decisions, assumptions, and technical documentation in IT Glue and related systems.
  • Lead technical discovery, assessment, scope review, and planning discussions; explain recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Maintain routine client-facing check-ins to identify current and emerging business and technical requirements and review engineering requests, roadmaps, and budget needs. Provide technical input, documentation, and meeting support for Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), as requested.
  • Work with client contacts, ISPs, application vendors, incumbent service providers, and internal teams to obtain information, confirm requirements, and support project planning and delivery.
  • Identify recurring issues or standards gaps that warrant remediation and engage senior architecture, infrastructure, or security resources when requirements exceed the role's authority or experience.
