About The Position

We have an opening with a great client of ours and we are looking for a Technical Editor/Writer to work a contract position in Grand Prairie, TX. This is a 12 month long contract position and you must be a US Citizen to apply. The role involves writing, rewriting, and editing technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences. The Technical Editor/Writer will acquire subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals. They will also oversee the preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts, and conduct quality reviews of materials. The contractor selected will work onsite full time for the first few weeks of the assignment, and then move to a hybrid schedule of 1-2 days from home.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship and Residency
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technical Communication, or related field.
  • 6+ years of technical writing experience in aerospace, defense, or high‑tech environments; prior work with test equipment documentation preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and PLM systems (Windchill experience required).
  • Familiarity with ECSS, MIL‑STD, or other aerospace documentation standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate complex engineering concepts into clear instructions.
  • Understanding Change Control processes and configuration management.

Responsibilities

  • Support Review and Release processes for documents.
  • Using Windchill.
  • Follow and Support Configuration Management for the program.
