Technical Director, Game Engine

Yuga Labs is seeking a Technical Director to join their highly technical team and work on their 3D metaverse project, Otherside. The ideal candidate should have deep experience in building games using multiple game engines and be comfortable with scaling. As a Technical Director, you will be responsible for ensuring a clear and complete technical design for the product, collaborating with creative and other leads, maintaining documentation, and overseeing the development schedule. Additionally, you will recruit and train internal engineering staff, mentor the game engineering team, and work on automated solutions for product packaging, testing, and deployment. This is a full-time remote position with a competitive salary range of $250,000 to $275,000, along with equity and benefits.

• Ensure clear, concise, and complete technical design for the product
• Collaborate with creative and other leads to ensure technical design meets product requirements
• Maintain documentation to reflect design changes
• Assist production staff in planning and maintaining development schedule
• Review and discuss production priorities, timelines, and scope with producers
• Review and approve engineering work performed by co-development partners
• Recruit, train, and oversee internal engineering staff members
• Act as a hands-on mentor to lead the game engineering team
• Work with engineering staff to build and maintain automated solutions for product packaging, testing, and deployment
• Champion games-as-a-service culture and support live game systems and regular product updates
• Possess a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field
• Have experience working on AAA game titles in a senior technical position
• Demonstrate strong technical background and leadership skills
• Collaborate harmoniously with all departments involved in development, planning, quality assurance, and support
• Pay attention to detail and focus on root-cause analysis
• Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
• Have knowledge and interest in current trends within Web 3, blockchain, and the gaming industry
• Be passionate about working on exciting projects

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field
