About The Position

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented professional to join our Systematic Platform: Exchange Execution and Data (SPEED) team as a Server Delivery & Data Center Operations Specialist. In this high-visibility, fast-paced role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery, installation, and transition of server infrastructure into production across our global colocation (Colo) data centers. Acting as a key liaison between data center, network, and Linux engineering teams, you will ensure newly deployed hardware is installed, cabled, documented, and seamlessly transitioned into production. This position offers opportunities to take on expanded responsibilities in other areas of SPEED operations and contribute to the Firm’s cutting-edge infrastructure initiatives.

Requirements

  • Education: BS or BA in a technical field or equivalent experience.
  • Technical Expertise: Extensive experience in data center engineering practices, including field design, structured cabling, cabinet layouts, containment, power, and cooling.
  • Hardware Lifecycle Management: Proven experience managing the lifecycle of compute, network, storage, and related infrastructure components in large-scale data centers.
  • DCIM Proficiency: Experience with DCIM tools and asset/inventory management systems.
  • Capacity and Performance Management: Ability to develop and implement capacity, performance, and fault management standards globally.
  • Design and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong detail-oriented design skills for physical and logical data center layouts, with the ability to translate requirements into scalable, cost-efficient solutions.
  • Communication and Leadership: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across technical and non-technical teams. Proven ability to supervise, train, and mentor team members.
  • Project Management: Strong time and project management skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects with aggressive timelines.
  • Industry Knowledge: Expert familiarity with the global colocation market, data center marketplace, and major hardware vendors.
  • Technical Tools: Proficiency in office productivity tools such as Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in large-scale data center hardware deployments and scaling infrastructure.
  • 10+ years of managing multiple projects and cross-functional initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Global Data Center Infrastructure Standards: Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for developing, documenting, and implementing global data center infrastructure design standards.
  • Hardware Lifecycle Management: Own the complete lifecycle of data center hardware (e.g., servers, storage, network gear, optics, NICs/SmartNICs, GPUs, and accelerators), including forecasting, specification, procurement, delivery, installation, maintenance, and decommissioning.
  • Vendor and Procurement Collaboration: Partner with the Vendor Management team and Business Manager on vendor selection, pricing discussions, and procurement, providing technical requirements and recommendations.
  • Technology Evaluation: Research, evaluate, and introduce new data center technologies and hardware platforms, translating vendor capabilities into standardized offerings.
  • Software Defined Data Centers: Collaborate with software development and infrastructure engineering teams to drive Software Defined Data Center strategies and automation for operational efficiencies.
  • Capacity and Efficiency Optimization: Develop and implement data center efficiency methodologies, capacity management models, and structured cabling standards to optimize operations.
  • Rack-Level Capacity Planning: Manage rack-level capacity, including power, cooling, space, and network port utilization, ensuring safe and efficient placement of IT components.
  • Resiliency and Risk Management: Engineer solutions to reduce operational risks, improve resiliency, and ensure adherence to change management guidelines for all data center facilities and infrastructure changes.
  • Deployment Leadership: Lead and manage internal staff and external providers to deploy new data center infrastructure and execute large-scale deployment or migration projects.
  • Infrastructure Monitoring and Reporting: Track and analyze operational issues and trends, report metrics to leadership, and recommend remediation for performance or SLA risks.
  • Oversight and Training: Provide leadership and day-to-day direction for on-site data center technicians and third-party providers, including training, mentoring, and ensuring adherence to best practices.
  • Data Accuracy and Documentation: Maintain data accuracy in the Firm’s Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tool and inventory systems, while identifying gaps and contributing to the global knowledge base.
