About The Position

GE Aerospace’s 2-Year Technical Associate Co-op gives second-year technical students the chance to apply classroom learning to real aircraft engine challenges. You will contribute to projects in Material development testing, engine development testing, and engine services while building practical skills and confidence with mentor support. This co-op will gain early industry experience that prepares you for future internships, co-ops, or full-time roles. GE Aerospace’s technical coops and interns gain broad exposure to varied areas of the aircraft engine business. Areas of opportunity for this role include: Development Testing, Material testing, and GE On-Wing Support. Experienced employees will mentor coop contributions and ensure development throughout the assignment. Coops build leadership and functional skills through structured and challenging hands-on experience complemented by classroom training.

Requirements

  • Must have at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (without rounding)
  • Working towards a degree in a technical field of study
  • Attending a fulltime matriculated two-year technical program
  • Completed one full year of college
  • Willingness to work in any GE Aerospace U.S. location for a minimum of 12 weeks and maximum 28 weeks (2+ semesters)
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required
  • GE Aerospace will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening
  • Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen

  • Component / piece part level testing
  • Rig and sub-assembly testing
  • Full engine testing
  • Military and Commercial programs
  • Supporting area operations teams to execute test
  • Frequent interaction with engineering and customer support staff
  • Materials behavior and characterization
  • Metallography
  • Composite, metallic and coating material characterization and processes for use in aircraft engines
  • Support overhaul shop, assisting mechanics in their daily activities
  • Handson work inventory control of engine components
  • Identifies and communicates risks, tradeoffs, and impacts to supporting team about safety, quality, delivery, and cost
  • Proactively identifies and transparently communicates risks, tradeoffs, and impacts to the supporting team across safety, quality, delivery, and cost, and collaborates on mitigation plans.
  • Performs assignments requiring trust, accuracy, and attention to detail, ensuring reliable, high-quality results
  • Plans and executes tasks with minimal supervision, organizing work effectively to meet objectives and deadlines
  • Analyzing data with Excel or other analysis tools then select appropriate solutions using data, standards, and stakeholder input
  • Developing PowerPoint and other graphic presentations to communicate progress, share best practices, and provide updates
  • Taking on selected aspects of a full-time job within the function you support
  • Escalate appropriately when issues exceed their authority or expertise
