About The Position

GE Aerospace’s 2-Year Technical Associate Co-op offers second-year technical students the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world aircraft engine challenges. Participants will contribute to projects in material development testing, engine development testing, and engine services, while developing practical skills and confidence with the support of mentors. This co-op provides early industry experience, preparing students for future internships, co-ops, or full-time roles. Technical co-ops and interns gain broad exposure to various aspects of the aircraft engine business, with opportunities in Development Testing, Material testing, and GE On-Wing Support. Experienced employees will mentor co-op contributions and foster development throughout the assignment. Co-ops build leadership and functional skills through structured, hands-on experience complemented by classroom training.

Requirements

  • Must have at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (without rounding).
  • Working towards a degree in a technical field of study.
  • Attending a fulltime matriculated two-year technical program.
  • Completed one full year of college.
  • Willingness to work in any GE Aerospace U.S. location for a minimum of 12 weeks and maximum 28 weeks (2+ semesters).
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
  • Ability to prove U.S. Person status (U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, asylee or refugee status) due to access to U.S. export-controlled information.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to projects in Material development testing, engine development testing, and engine services.
  • Perform component/piece part level testing, rig and sub-assembly testing, and full engine testing for Military and Commercial programs.
  • Support area operations teams to execute tests.
  • Engage in materials behavior and characterization, metallography, and composite, metallic, and coating material characterization and processes for use in aircraft engines.
  • Support overhaul shop activities, assisting mechanics in their daily tasks and managing inventory control of engine components.
  • Interact frequently with engineering and customer support staff.
  • Identify and communicate risks, tradeoffs, and impacts related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost, and collaborate on mitigation plans.
  • Perform assignments requiring trust, accuracy, and attention to detail, ensuring reliable, high-quality results.
  • Plan and execute tasks with minimal supervision, organizing work effectively to meet objectives and deadlines.
  • Analyze data with Excel or other analysis tools and select appropriate solutions using data, standards, and stakeholder input.
  • Develop PowerPoint and other graphic presentations to communicate progress, share best practices, and provide updates.
  • Take on selected aspects of a full-time job within the function you support.
  • Escalate appropriately when issues exceed their authority or expertise.
