About The Position

KPMG Global Compliance and Transformation has an exciting opportunity for Technical Consultants (Intern/Co-op) to join our team in Winter 2027 or Summer 2027. This opportunity is located at KPMG's Toronto Bay-Adelaide office. Global disruption and the dynamic tax landscape are driving tax leaders to seek opportunities to transform their operating models and leverage technology to create efficiencies, increase accuracy, and enhance transparency. KPMG’s multi-disciplinary Tax Transformation team combines accounting, tax and technology expertise with Lean Six Sigma process engineers to address client needs. The team helps tax leaders establish a clear tax vision and formulate effective tax operating models aligned to business objectives. They transform organizations' tax functions to deliver value, support risk management controls, and provide benchmarks and KPIs. As part of the team, interns/co-ops will work with businesses to help them design and implement their target operating model, leveraging advanced tax automation and tax data technologies. The team takes a holistic view and uses a personalized approach to developing effective, right-sized solutions for clients, resulting in a finely tuned tax function aligned with strategic vision and business objectives. We are looking for co-ops who can apply both their consulting and technology skills to support a wide range of projects.

Requirements

  • Currently completing a degree in either: A field such as Business Administration, Financial Management, Engineering or similar, with strong technology skills, or A field such as Computer Science, or similar, with strong consulting skills.
  • A keen interest in finance, accounting, tax, or similar business disciplines.
  • A keen interest in innovation and process improvement.
  • Experience developing technology solutions using Excel/VBA
  • Enjoys problem solving using business acumen and technological solutions.
  • Willingly takes on and learns new skills - although you may not know all the technologies and/or have tax experience, you’re willing to learn quickly and apply it effectively.
  • Excels in a fast-paced environment - We’re a client service firm and we take pride in what we do and how we do it in tight deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with other Microsoft technologies such as Power Query, PowerBI, Power Automate, SharePoint, Microsoft SQL Server considered an asset.
  • Experience with Python, Alteryx, or similar is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience in business roles and/or accounting firms is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with AI‑enabled tools or analytics platforms is considered an asset, along with comfort in leveraging AI to enhance efficiency, generate insights, or support problem‑solving, and a demonstrated interest in how these technologies can be applied in professional settings.

Responsibilities

  • Apply business/accounting/finance acumen to solve client problems, apply technology skills to build solutions for clients, and assist with tax consulting deliverables.
  • Assist with day-to-day delivery of tax transformation projects for clients and supporting client deliverables using a variety of technologies and tools.
  • Support development of custom solutions and ongoing product development.
  • Assist on client initiatives to identify opportunities to improve existing tax operating models including designing processes, and implementing tax technology.
  • Work with our managers to understand client(s) existing processes and propose new solutions.
  • Participate in collaboration/design sessions with the business, clients, and our team.
