About The Position

The NG911 Technical Architect designs, governs, and assures end-to-end technology solutions that support business goals and meet technical standards. This role provides architectural leadership across infrastructure, applications, security, and integration, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, reliable, and cost-effective. It manages the technology from Service Provider ingress to PSAP termination. The Technical Architect works with business stakeholders, project managers, delivery teams, engineers, vendors, and customers to define solution architectures and guide implementation from concept through deployment. The Technical Architect is a client facing role, who can explain verbally and written technical problems and solutions to non-technical internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
  • 8–15+ years of network or application experience.
  • 5+ years working in E911 and/or NG911 environment.
  • 5+ years in technical architecture, solution architecture, or senior engineering roles.
  • Experience designing NG911 NGCS and PSAP CHS solutions.
  • Experience in creating deliverable technical documentation. (ATP, DR, COOP, ICDs).
  • Demonstrated success leading complex technical initiatives.
  • Current or previous involvement in NENA technical working groups.
  • Infrastructure architecture (servers, storage, networking, virtualization).
  • Expert on protocols used in NG911. (SIP, MSRP, HTTP, HTTPs, TCP, IP, DNS)
  • Familiarity with NG911 location services (LIS/LDB, ECRF, LVF).
  • NG911 Application function architecture and deployment. (BCF, ESRP, MSBF).
  • NG911 transitional elements. (LNG, LSRG, LPG).
  • NG911 Security architecture and governance.
  • Service Provider delivery and development of interconnect documents.
  • DevOps, CI/CD, and automation tools.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Internal and external.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Leadership and mentoring capabilities.
  • Comfort dealing with clients during technical issues.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Service Provider to PSAP technical architectures that meet business and operational requirements.
  • Produce high-level and detailed technical design documentation, based on NENA governing standards and related RFCs.
  • Define NG911 technology standards, design principles, and architectural patterns.
  • Develop solutions for unique client needs of the 911 community.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions.
  • Pre- and post-sales customer facing to develop and describe technical solutions.
  • Serve as the primary technical authority for NG911 projects and programs.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to engineers, developers, and technical specialists.
  • Lead architecture reviews, design workshops, and technical decision-making.
  • Participate in peer reviews to ensure solution quality and compliance with standards.
  • Represent the business in industry standards technical working groups.
  • Support projects throughout the lifecycle from design through implementation and transition to operations.
  • Identify and manage technical risks, dependencies, and constraints.
  • Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and operational requirements.
  • Support technical assurance activities and change management processes.
