Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a closely related field.
  • Five or more years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Advanced knowledge of full-cycle accounting.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple business functions.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Ability to prioritize competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional accuracy in financial analysis and reporting.
  • Self-directed with the ability to work independently.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Interest in leveraging AI tools and technology to improve accounting processes.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA and/or CMA certification.
  • Experience with Yardi or comparable accounting software.
  • Experience supporting complex organizational structures or multi-entity environments.

Responsibilities

  • Research, analyze, and provide technical accounting guidance for complex transactions, including acquisitions, debt restructurizations, and equity financing activities.
  • Serve as the process owner for key accounting functions while identifying opportunities to strengthen efficiency and consistency.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, company accounting policies, and internal controls.
  • Prepare and review monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Analyze financial results, investigate significant variances, and communicate findings to business partners.
  • Prepare monthly internal financial statements.
  • Lead assigned portions of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process.
  • Support the preparation of quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements, including footnote disclosures and year-end audit activities.
  • Prepare financial reporting packages for third-party lenders and business partners.
  • Partner with Property Management, Finance, and Operations on annual budgeting, tenant reconciliations, and special projects.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to accounting systems, internal controls, and business processes.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement while supporting Sabey's adoption of AI and emerging technologies.
