About The Position

The Technical Writer is responsible for researching and translating technical information into operational and maintenance manuals and/or web-based documents for non-technical and technical users. This role involves understanding program technical concepts, working closely with hardware engineering to write manuals, developing technical manuals to meet customer format requirements, and communicating progress to company personnel and customers. The Technical Writer will also collaborate with technical publications to develop train-the-trainer courseware and conduct structured classroom instruction and simulator On-the-Job Training (OJT) for simulator operation and maintenance, developing all training materials using provided documentation.

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience as a technical writer or instructor
  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications a plus.
  • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Word required.
  • Must be able to obtain a Security Clearance.
  • Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures.
  • Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form.
  • Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know.
  • Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval.
  • All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.
  • Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to read/understand electrical and mechanical drawings, parts lists, and system indices a plus.
  • Experience authoring/editing technical manuals for the military.
  • Familiar with publications lifecycle from gathering sources, to writing outlines, to delivering the final product.
  • Excellent verbal and written (writing, editing, proofreading, and page composition) communications skills
  • PTC Arbortext Editor experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with hardware CAD tools a plus.
  • Experience with Adobe suite a plus.
  • Experience within the operation and maintenance of full-flight simulators preferable.
  • Able to travel.
