About The Position

The Tech Vocational Instructor teaches HVAC in a career and technical education setting. The role requires knowledge of the prescribed curriculum, child development, current research, and varied learning styles. The instructor plans and organizes instruction, manages the classroom, supervises students, and analyzes and evaluates student progress and programs. The position also calls for effective written and oral communication, basic technology knowledge, positive interpersonal skills, and a commitment to teaching, learning, and ongoing professional development.

Requirements

For a degreed career and technical instructor: a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution and valid Florida Department of Education certification or a Statement of Eligibility in an appropriate degreed area listed in the State Curriculum Frameworks.
For a non-degreed career and technical instructor: a high school diploma or GED and six years of full-time occupational experience in the appropriate certification area listed in the State Curriculum Frameworks; alternatively, two years of such experience combined with an AA, AS, or bachelor's degree in the career subject.
Alternatively, a high school diploma or GED and completion of a state-approved apprenticeship program, completion of a state-approved Career and Technical Education Training Program, or licensure through a state or national credentialing agency.
Knowledge of the prescribed curriculum, child development, current research, and varied learning styles.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
Basic knowledge of technology and planning and organizational skills.
Ability to manage a classroom, supervise students, and analyze, diagnose, and evaluate student progress and programs.
Effective, positive interpersonal skills.
Commitment to a core set of beliefs about teaching, learning, and ongoing professional development.
