Vocational Instructor - HVAC
About The Position
The Vocational Instructor provides instruction in HVAC and other vocational or occupational subjects to help inmates/students learn specified material and acquire vocational skills. The instructor prepares course objectives in accordance with curriculum standards and applicable contract requirements, and plans and documents a course of study that meets students’ individual needs and abilities. Instruction may use handouts, texts, audiovisual aids, and other materials. The instructor evaluates student performance, issues progress reports as required, and provides additional instruction when needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED certification, or equivalent.
- Five years of full-time, wage-earning experience in the subject vocational trade or career readiness skills, including technical trade experience, within the past eight years.
- Current trade certification in the subject vocational area of instruction.
- Licensed, or eligible for provisional teaching licensure and trade certification in accordance with Tennessee Department of Education requirements.
- Ability to give clear instructions in the trade and/or vocational area.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
Responsibilities
