About The Position

Under the general direction of more skilled technicians, the Tech Trainee 1 primarily performs helper duties for employees in the Service Department and may perform unskilled or semiskilled duties in assigned areas. The employee remains in the Trainee 1 classification for at least one year, attends all assigned training classes, and earns passing grades. The position involves servicing Caterpillar, allied product, agricultural and turf, and industrial machinery. It includes work in the shop and outdoors, travel within the company’s established territory as required, and operation of company service vehicles. The role requires adherence to company safety, housekeeping, credit, and other policies and procedures, along with maintaining favorable relationships with customers, suppliers, and employees in other departments.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
PC skills.
Forklift certification, or ability to become certified within 60 days.
Own hand tools suitable for the work described.
Ability to lift up to 60 pounds daily, with frequent exertion.

Nice To Haves

At least one year of experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Disassemble, clean, and reassemble Caterpillar, allied product, agricultural and turf, and industrial machines serviced by the Service Department.
Measure and identify parts and components for reusability or replacement, and order new parts as required.
Perform requirements in Caterpillar and other allied lubrication, maintenance, and warranty guidelines.
Attend assigned training classes and obtain passing grades.
Complete Service Reports promptly and in accordance with HPC standards.
Travel as required within the established HPC territory.
Operate HPC service vehicles.
Follow HPC safety, housekeeping, credit, and other rules, policies, and procedures.
Maintain favorable business relationships with customers, suppliers, and personnel from other HPC departments.
