About The Position

This position is responsible for learning and understanding the skills and practices required to function as a pharmacy technician and successfully obtain registration as a pharmacy technician with the Florida Board of Pharmacy. At the completion of the instructional period, the incumbent must pass a competency test, obtain registration as a pharmacy technician from the Florida Board of Pharmacy, and demonstrate baseline skills required for promotion to a Pharmacy Technician Level 1 position.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to operate a calculator, telecommunication equipment, and computer workstation.
• Ability to lift more than 30 pounds.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic algebra knowledge, assessed by a validated HR-administered math test. A minimum score of 80% is required; one retake is allowed if the initial score is at least 60%.
• Must provide a valid telephone number to the Pharmacy Services Department Staff Assistant so the department can make contact in the event of hospital need or emergency.

Nice To Haves

• One year (24 credit hours) of college-level study, including successful completion of algebra.
• At least three years of prior UF Health Shands employment for internal candidates.
• Prior customer service experience.
