NATURE AND SCOPE: Under the direction of IT Services Directors, the Tech Support Intern provides entry-level operational and technical support to the IT Services department, assisting with activities required for successful execution of projects or processes.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled working towards a technical degree
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office personal computer environment
  • Thirst for knowledge, intellectual curiosity

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check including Criminal Record check, Drug Screening, motor vehicle record (MVR) and reference check according to company policy.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the US without current or future sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with all IT teams to ensure smooth, reliable, and secure operation of software and systems.
  • Understand the deployed infrastructure and systems within the scope of assigned tasks.
  • Participate in projects to acquire, install, maintain / upgrade and repair the environment.
  • Monitor and report progress and accomplish desired results within specified timeframes.
  • Provision end-user devices (e.g., workstations, phones, printers) for deployment to staff.
  • Deploy operating system and pre-packaged software using manual or automated deployment tools.
  • Ensure the appropriateness, technical validity and performance of all work being placed into production.
  • Build rapport with and engage other IT Services team members.
  • Escalate incidents with accurate documentation and stay engaged to ensure timely resolution.
  • Promptly inform management of any critical issues, especially inappropriate computer hardware or software use, so systems are not abused, and the organization’s integrity is not compromised.
  • Maintain IT asset inventory and storeroom.
  • Accurately document instances of equipment installation, failure, repair and removal, as well as moves and changes.
  • Record and manage equipment sent to repair depots for equipment under warranty or service contracts.
  • Maintain system documentation and develop help sheets and FAQs.
