About The Position

Leith Volkswagen of Raleigh has an outstanding opportunity for a Tech D to join their team and the Holman Family! This role involves performing test drives, inspections, and diagnostic tests on vehicles to identify and repair mechanical problems. The technician will examine critical parts and systems, inspect internal operations, and recommend necessary repairs or maintenance. Responsibilities include repairing or replacing malfunctioning parts, performing preventative maintenance, and conducting post-repair testing. Accurate documentation of repairs, including "CCR" (condition, cause, remedy), is essential, along with maintaining a clean and safe work area and properly caring for tools and equipment. Continuous development of technical skills, staying updated on manufacturer bulletins, and obtaining necessary training and certifications are also key aspects of the role.

Requirements

Knowledge of vehicle/engine repair
Possess a valid driver license
Proficient with hand tools and diagnostic equipment
Proficient with computer diagnostic equipment and software
Ability to diagnose and repair vehicles and follow safety instructions and directions

Nice To Haves

Additional education, certifications, or related-experience is generally preferred; including ASE certification, OEM certification, associate’s degree in auto maintenance and repair, etc.

Responsibilities

Perform test drives, inspections, and other diagnostic tests on vehicles
Identifies mechanical problems visually and/or with computer diagnostic equipment
Examines critical parts and systems using standard checklists and manufacturer guidelines
Inspects internal systems and controls to ensure the vehicle is operating properly and in compliance with state regulations
Follows strategy based diagnosis protocol to identify where problems exist and determine which parts need to be repaired or replaced
Recommends needed repairs or maintenance on customer or company cars
Repairs or replaces malfunctioning parts and systems such brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical parts
Completes preventative maintenance on vehicles, such as performing oil changes, flushing and replacing fluids, tire rotation, and replacing brakes
Performs assigned repairs to factory standards and dealership specifications
Follows manufacturer and dealership repair procedures when performing any repairs
Conducts post-repair testing and diagnostics to confirm proper operation, that repairs have been made properly, and that problems have been resolved
Accurately identifies and list the conditions, cause and remedy (“CCR”) on repair orders, using correct grammar and professional language
Ensure that all paperwork is complete, accurate, and legible and finished in a timely fashion
Continue to develop additional technical skills, as appropriate, to enable flexibility in work assignments
Maintains knowledge of technical bulletins issued by the manufacturer and read 100% of those bulletins that apply to your own job assignments
Obtain manufacturer training and/or (ASE) certification as determined necessary by the Service Manager
Maintain a clean, safe and well organized work area
Properly maintain tools and equipment when performing service work and follow correct safety practices
Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned
