About The Position

The Registrar is responsible for welcoming visitors, interviewing patients to obtain necessary information, explaining hospital regulations, and accurately entering patient data into the computer system. This role also involves managing incoming calls, mail, and performing various clerical duties to support the organization's needs.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education degree.
  • Minimum of six months position-related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational, technical training or Associates, Bachelor degree.
  • Five (5) or more years of hospital registration experience.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome on-site visitors and determine the nature of their business.
  • Announce visitors to appropriate personnel.
  • Interview patients or representatives to obtain and record personal and financial information.
  • Explain hospital regulations, visiting hours, payment policies, and charges.
  • Obtain signed statements from patients to protect the hospital's interests.
  • Escort patients or arrange for escorts to appropriate areas.
  • Enter patient admitting information into the computer system.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls promptly and tactfully.
  • Forward calls to the appropriate personnel or department.
  • Provide callers with address, directions, and other non-confidential information.
  • Retrieve messages from voice mail and forward them.
  • Maintain visitor logs and issue passes.
  • Receive, sort, and distribute mail.
  • Perform other clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, collating, typing, scanning, and data entry.
