About The Position

Working within Waterfall or Agile frameworks, a Business Analyst will work with a variety of disciplined focused team members all working toward a common goal of delivering value with quality and scale. Responsible for collaborating with other Job Families within Technology and across our business partners to deliver consistent, reliable technology solutions that leverage AEP's technology standards, architectures and best practices. Under limited guidance and direction, performs intermediate business and project analysis functions assigned by senior staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, business or related field of study; Or Associate's degree in computer science or related field of study with 2 years of relevant work experience; Or High school diploma/GED with 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • 2 years of relevant work experience is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for various audiences.
  • Advanced Microsoft 365 proficiency, especially Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Experience with data analysis and SQL queries.
  • Experience using ServiceNow for incident and request management.
  • Experience creating mockups and technical/process diagrams (e.g., Visio).
  • Familiarity with software testing methodologies and tools.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Splunk or Dynatrace.
  • Energy industry knowledge (e.g., trading, market data, pricing) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs intermediate business/project analysis functions assigned by senior staff with little guidance and direction.
  • Continues developing skills in general system and business analysis, planning, facilitation.
  • Develops functional & non-functional requirements, creates documentation, maintains corporate assets, and performs system analysis.
  • Creates test plan, writes test cases, and executes tests.
  • Demonstrates technical aptitude by utilizing querying tools, understanding data modeling and maintenance of data, and system configuration; able to understand and apply technology solutions.
  • Creates work plans while learning and applying best practices.
  • Builds domain knowledge and understands core business capabilities.
  • Analyzes, resolves and implements appropriate solutions for basic to intermediate problems.
  • Provides process redesign and support including using tools, responding to user questions, problem diagnosis, recognition of process improvements, research, troubleshooting, tracking and resolution.
  • Develop knowledge and fundamental awareness of the planning and monitoring of expenditures to meet organizational objectives and compliance.
  • Develop financial management of assets and resources to utilize when making process changes.
