Tech Aide - Radiology - Full Time - Days
About The Position
Under the direction of the Supervisor, the Tech Aide performs operational and technical procedures for the Radiology Department. Duties include operating the darkroom, assisting technologists, receiving visitors and patients, answering incoming calls, obtaining orders from the hospital computer and referring exams to technologists, recording procedures on the daily log sheet, and transporting patients to and from assigned areas. The position performs duties that do not require constant supervision or technical detail and takes responsibility for designated procedures with ingenuity and initiative as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Responsibilities
- Files and charts medical reports and related material.
- Assigns the proper patient consent form when an injectable study is to be performed.
- Assists in locating patient files.
- Transports patients to and from the Imaging Department.
- Assists Imaging Services personnel with a variety of patient-related duties and certain heavy duties in the care of physically or mentally handicapped patients.
- Helps maintain equipment and assists with cleaning the department, excluding duties pertaining to Environmental Service.
- Maintains record-keeping and filing systems according to department policy.
- Delivers radiographs to radiologists or physicians and retrieves them when appropriate.
- Operates the darkroom area.
- Assists technologists with assorted duties.
- Receives visitors and patients and answers incoming calls.
- Obtains orders from the hospital computer and refers exams to technologists.
- Logs procedures on the daily log sheet.
