About The Position
Potbelly is hiring a friendly, outgoing Team Member to provide customers with fast, friendly, and efficient service and consistently deliver quality products in a clean, inviting environment. Team Members work in a fast-paced sandwich shop and may be assigned to a variety of stations. The position pays $15.25–$15.75 plus digital tips; Potbelly does not guarantee tip earnings. Applicants must be at least 16 years old. Illinois employees must become food safety certified within 30 days of employment. Applications are due by 12/1/2026, though the posting may close earlier if a suitable candidate is selected.
Requirements
- At least 16 years of age.
- Friendly, customer-first mindset and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, energetic environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfort working in a bustling kitchen environment.
- Ability to manage potential allergens, including peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood, and shellfish.
- Ability to work as a team player.
- Ability to stand or walk for a minimum of 3 hours or as needed.
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Illinois employees must become food safety certified within 30 days of employment.
Nice To Haves
- Knife skills are a plus.
Responsibilities
- Work at assigned stations, including load, dress, shakes, cash, prep, and front, as directed by a Shift Leader or Manager.
- Follow health and safety standards for food, cleanliness, and safety.
- Restock the food line, chips, and cooler.
- Efficiently prepare quality finished products, including sandwiches, salads, soups, cookies, and ice cream.
- Use the automatic slicer to prepare food items if 18 or older.
- Clean tables, counters, floors, bathrooms, kitchen areas, and utensils; take out trash.
- Operate the cash register and follow cash-handling procedures, including handling and balancing cash.
- Effectively handle customer complaints and issues.
- Take delivery, catering, and pickup orders over the phone.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
