About The Position

Saxbys is hiring a part-time Cafe Team Member for its cafe at Radford University, accepting applications for Fall 2027 and future semesters. Starting pay is $13 per hour. Team Members gain hands-on experience in food and beverage production, community leadership, and hospitality while working with fellow students. The role supports Saxbys’ mission to “Make Life Better” by helping create an engaging, welcoming campus cafe and serving the university community.

Requirements

• Exceptional communication skills.
• Ability to remember and recall details of a complex menu and operations.
• Ability to stand, walk, and smile for extended periods.
• Ability to stoop and kneel.
• Ability to push, pull, lift, or carry up to 35 pounds.
• Ability to ascend or descend ladders, stairs, and ramps.

Nice To Haves

• Previous hospitality experience.
• Previous food and beverage experience.

Responsibilities

• Engage with cafe guests and help create a culture of hospitality.
• Learn the food and beverage menu to make suggestions and answer guest questions.
• Manage and resolve guest recovery situations when they occur.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the cafe.
• Complete assigned tasks and preparation efficiently as directed by the Team Lead and/or Student Cafe Operating Officer (SCOO).
• Demonstrate open communication, self-awareness, and initiative to improve cafe operations and atmosphere.
• Collaborate with a diverse team in a fast-paced service environment while upholding Saxbys’ mission and core values.
• Arrive on time in Saxbys uniform and prepared to work.
• Support, exhibit, and promote Saxbys’ mission and core values in daily activities.
