About The Position

The Team Member - Transportation supports the safe and efficient collection, transportation, and handling of donated goods along assigned routes. Working alongside the Driver, the role assists with residential and donation-site pickups, route navigation, loading and unloading donations, and keeping collection sites clean and organized. The position regularly involves handling large, bulky, and irregularly shaped items and representing America’s Thrift Stores to donors and community members through exceptional service and positive relationships. The role requires teamwork, attention to safety, a strong work ethic, and the ability to perform physically demanding work in a fast-paced environment and varying weather conditions. The employee may be required to perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or older.
Successful completion of a background check.
Strong customer service skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
Ability to maintain accurate records and communicate donation progress.
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds, independently or with appropriate assistance.
Ability to push and pull items weighing up to 70 pounds.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on varied surfaces.
Ability to frequently bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, reach at waist and overhead levels, and perform repetitive physical movements.
Ability to climb steps, stairs, and ramps, and get into and out of box trucks and trailers safely.
Ability to maintain balance and safely handle donations around trucks, trailers, and collection sites.
Sufficient hand and arm strength, grip, and dexterity to handle, carry, position, and secure donated goods.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions.
Sufficient vision, hearing, and communication abilities to perform duties safely and remain aware of surrounding hazards.
Ability to tolerate regular travel in a box truck and remain seated while traveling between locations.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

Assist the Driver with collecting donations from box sites and donor homes.
Deliver exceptional customer service to donors and customers.
Support the Driver with navigation during routes and pickup operations.
Communicate the organization’s mission and goals to donors and customers.
Foster and maintain positive relationships with donors and the public.
Contribute to upkeep and management of donation box sites and routes.
Collaborate with the Driver on route development and placement of donation boxes and trailers.
Keep donation sites and routes clean and organized according to company standards.
Help the Driver maintain accurate records and track routes and donations.
Safely and efficiently load and unload trucks and trailers with the Driver.
Adapt to working in varied weather conditions, including heat, cold, and wet environments.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
