About The Position

The Hamilton Heights Young Life Team Leader role is a mission staff position focused on leading and participating in effective Young Life ministry. This role involves spiritual development, leadership development, resource development, direct ministry, and ministry support. The position requires a commitment to Young Life's Christian purposes and adherence to its Statement of Faith and policies. The Team Leader will be responsible for fostering spiritual growth in themselves and others, equipping volunteers, raising financial support, engaging in direct ministry with students (contact work, club, Campaigners, camping), and managing administrative tasks with stewardship and transparency. Training is provided through various Young Life programs, including regional and area-specific training, as well as individualized development plans.

Requirements

  • Must profess a belief in Jesus Christ as personal Savior and Lord.
  • Must subscribe to the statements and policies required of all Young Life staff, including the Young Life Statement of Faith.
  • Must be ready, willing, and able to fulfill ministry functions required by the organization.
  • Must refrain from conduct and statements that detract from the biblical standards taught and supported by Young Life.
  • Must abide by all policies and practices of Young Life, including those related to religious belief or ministry activities.
  • Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must live locally in Hamilton County to engage effectively in ministry.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and participate in effective Young Life ministry through training and direct field experience.
  • Develop a yearly personal growth plan for spiritual development, including prayer, spiritual disciplines, fellowship, and church relationships.
  • Seek and maintain relationships and disciplines within an active church community.
  • Actively participate in the spiritual life of the Young Life community.
  • Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development.
  • Equip leaders, committee, and staff through key volunteer care, recruiting, team building, training, supervision, and vision casting.
  • Meet regularly with volunteer leaders and area leadership.
  • Recruit and train new leaders to build a leadership team that reflects the community.
  • Model excellence in contact work, club, Campaigners, and camping to other leaders.
  • Assist in training leaders, team leaders, and committee on effective teamwork and developing yearly ministry strategies.
  • Raise financial support as directed and maintain good donor care practices.
  • Communicate ministry updates and progress to personal donor partners.
  • Network and develop strategic relationships with key adults in the community (principals, pastors, parents, potential committee members).
  • Assist with camp fundraisers.
  • Engage in all three levels of contact work.
  • Lead a team to plan and conduct a Young Life club and Campaigners/discipleship ministry with excellence.
  • Lead a team to implement a summer and school-season camping strategy for the ministry.
  • Serve on a summer assignment at a Young Life camp each year.
  • Adhere to all Young Life policies and procedures, maintaining professionalism in office hours, dress, conduct, and time management.
  • Manage finances with stewardship, accountability, and transparency using mission-wide applications.
  • Maintain accurate information on kids, leaders, and donors for area records.
  • Provide clear, prompt, appropriate, and professional communication to all involved in ministry.
  • Set yearly strategic ministry plans and initiatives to reach every kid and review them regularly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and congruent with gifts, experience, and area needs.
