About The Position

The YMCA of Oakville is seeking a passionate Team Leader to lead and inspire its childcare team. As the largest not-for-profit Child Care provider in Oakville, the organization offers high-quality Before and After School programs for children ages 3.8 to 12 years at 42 locations, and Infant, Toddler and Preschool Child Care programs for children ages 6 weeks to 3.8 years at 11 locations. The Team Leader, School-Age will be responsible for providing a fun, safe, and active before and after school program for children aged 3.8 to 12 years old. This role involves oversight and supervision of the program, ensuring compliance with all YMCA policies, procedures, and Child Care Early Years Act requirements. Additionally, the Team Leader will develop and deliver quality programs that support children's healthy development and foster positive peer relationships in a supervised setting.

Requirements

  • Child and Youth Worker (CYW) or Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) or Bachelor of Education (OCT)
  • Experience working with children and families
  • Effective conflict resolution and teamwork skills
  • Valid Standard First Aid with CPR C and Immunization Record
  • A Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the last six months

Responsibilities

  • Provides supervision and leadership to before and after school program for children ages 3.8 to 12 years old
  • Comply with the Child Care Early Years Act, YMCA Policies and Procedures, YMCA Child Protection Policy
  • Ensures positive, professional communication with families on an ongoing basis, and responds promptly to all requests, queries, and concerns
  • Delivers quality age-appropriate program experiences that are reflective of the varied interests of the group and support the healthy development of children
  • Follows budget guideline and purchase groceries and program supplies
  • Administrative tasks such as attendance, maintaining and completing daily logs and month end duties
  • Collaborates with other YMCA staff members and volunteers to support effective teamwork
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with school personnel.
  • Participates in professional development including staff meetings, workshops, and training
  • Creates an environment in which staff, placement students, volunteers feel safe to be themselves at work and a sense of belonging on your team
