About The Position

The Team Leader lead will be responsible for the personnel and product in their work center(s). They will handle personnel training, quality, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives in their area. Product and personnel status will be measured and reported on to the Production Supervisor. Team Leads are responsible to monitor and manage the completion of shop orders and operations as determined by the part number routing, ensuring operations are complete on time and at or under the allotted labor hours. They actively manage the safety culture, implement refined policies, and ensure their cells are in safe working order. They also review quality data to ensure that manufacturing quality is improving and that the MoM and work instructions are updated to reflect corrective actions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent.
  • 1 year of leading a welding and fabrication team in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to understand and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Advanced understanding of production workflows and ability to prioritize work.
  • Capable of recognizing individual strengths and developmental needs within the team.
  • Ability to construct training to encourage proficiency and overall employee productivity within the cell.
  • Ability to efficiently plan and meet project schedule deadlines, while maintaining contingency plans.
  • Advanced competency using ERPs in a manufacturing environment.
  • Organizational and time management skills: Must manage multiple critical tasks concurrently.

Responsibilities

  • Lead personnel and product in their work center(s).
  • Handle personnel training, quality, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor and manage the completion of shop orders and operations.
  • Ensure operations are complete on time and at or under the allotted labor hours.
  • Actively manage the safety culture, implement refined policies, and ensure cells are in safe working order.
  • Review quality data to ensure manufacturing quality is improving.
  • Update MoM and work instructions to reflect corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate service records.
  • Construct preventative maintenance plans and schedule equipment services.
  • Mitigate unnecessary interruptions to production schedules.
  • Accurately maintain compliance of all required documentation and production reporting.
  • Observe machine operation, technician output, identify defects, and deviations from standards.
  • Utilize discrepancy data to troubleshoot and conduct root cause analysis.
  • Provide solutions and training to mitigate noncompliance.
  • Set the pace of work within the cell utilizing IFS routings and data.
  • Review part number routings before beginning work, reporting issues to Production Supervisor.
  • Accurately report schedule – on time/late/ahead of schedule.
  • Utilize forecast planning to mitigate parts shortages and ensure timely notification to material handlers.
  • Keep manufacturing traveler and Bus BoM/Kanban usage updated.
  • Fill in appropriate location upon job completion.
  • Maintain and review worked/hours allocated to jobs, ensure reporting is precise.
  • Prepare for contingency planning to mitigate excessive O&M expenditures.
  • Model and cultivate a culture for team safety and improvement of initiatives.
  • Process change requests from ECOs on SO within the cell.
  • Provide a safe and productive work environment for the team.
  • Analyze the manufacturing process, identify trends, and propose new ways to improve existing products and procedures.
  • Motivate members of the team to harness their potentials and work harder for the execution of projects.
  • Assign tasks to team members and give them specific directions and procedures to follow.
  • Interpret engineering specifications, prints and job orders to workers and assign jobs between areas.
  • Confer with supervisors and other leads to coordinate operations and activities.
  • Provide guidance and expert advice on technical, systems, or process-related topics.
