About The Position

Performs intermediate-level industrial painting, with limited supervision, work using an air assisted airless spray gun to apply protective coatings to a variety of surfaces. This position will be responsible for surface preparations through cleaning, mixing, sanding, and caulking. Follows proper techniques for spray applications to manufacturer specifications; and applying even, high-quality finishes while following safety, environmental, and quality control standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalency preferred. A combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered.
  • Must have 3 to 5 years’ experience in related field, electrostatic spray systems with plural component applications.
  • Must be capable to operate PIT equipment moving large weldments.
  • Working knowledge of basic mechanical hand tools (Drills, Impact Driver, Rivet/Insert Gun, and Tape Measures).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to work well with all levels of personnel individually or in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrated ability to use various forms of PIT equipment for the transport of heavy loads during the manufacturing process.
  • Proficient with an air assisted airless spray gun to apply paints, primers, and specialty coatings for doors and exhaust.
  • Adept ability to prepare the paint gun, attach air caps/nozzles, configuring air/fluid pressure.
  • Advanced knowledge on preparing surfaces through cleaning, caulking, and sanding as required.
  • Maintain tools, spray gun, hoses, and pumps in a safe and efficient condition.
  • Mix and load coating materials according to established formulas, recipes, and specifications.
  • Ensure proper spray techniques, thickness, and finish quality are achieved.
  • Knowledge of weldments and/or parts for identification.
  • Skilled ability with equipment setup, follow electrostatic safety protocols (grounding and required PPE’s), breakdown, and cleaning after daily usage.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot spray equipment, hoses, regulators, and maintenance of paint equipment.
  • Inspect finished surfaces for uniform coverage, adhesion, quality finish and record wet and dry paint mill thickness ensuring it meets company expectations for desired paint life.
  • Ability to transfer and agitate all paint components in Paint Kitchen.
  • Expected to follow established processes while contributing to continuous improvement in safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Follow OSHA, EPA, and company safety guidelines for handling hazardous materials with ability to prep for monthly pick up.
  • Safety skills- demonstrated ability to follow safety standards, procedures, and protocols ensuring the safety of other team members in proximity to all work areas.
  • Means to work with maintenance team members to ensure equipment is properly maintained for reliable operation.
