About The Position

This role is responsible for overseeing and executing metal fabrication processes, particularly on the 2nd shift. The Team Lead will ensure production schedules are met by planning necessary tools, routers, and materials, and by providing training and oversight to setup and machine operators. This position involves hands-on operation of various fabrication machinery, quality control, documentation, and adherence to safety guidelines.

Requirements

  • Ability to set-up and operate single/coil press, brake press, CNC turrets, resistance welders.
  • Ability to operate and input CNC and CO2 laser equipment programs.
  • Ability to use measuring tools (tape measures, micrometers, calipers).
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Must be mechanically inclined.
  • Ability to operate an industrial forklift.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Reading and basic math skills.
  • Ability to think analytically and be self-motivated.
  • Close attention and care required to prevent damage to complex machine tools.
  • Frequent standing and walking.
  • Ability to lift or move typically 20-50 lbs.
  • Stooping, kneeling, handling.
  • Ability to work overtime on short notice.
  • Knowledge of setting up metal fabrication machinery (single/coil press, brake press, CNC turrets, resistance welders).
  • 5+ years of experience in a related field.
  • Ability to operate a forklift.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous forklift certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews production schedule to plan tools, routers, and materials needed for set-ups.
  • Provides training to set-up operators on workstation setup.
  • Monitors and verifies the work of set-up operators and machine operators.
  • Validates production routes for current processes.
  • Sets up and operates cellular manufacturing processes.
  • Assists the Production Supervisor with problems and scheduling.
  • Retrieves routers, determines material needs, and identifies required tools.
  • Sets up machinery according to specifications and the production schedule.
  • Runs and inspects the first part for production to ensure proper dimensions and submits it for ISIR approval.
  • Reviews routers with operators and instructs them on proper part forming and safety equipment usage.
  • Completes proper documentation, including Quality Verification Sheets, Routers, and Set Up Records.
  • Completes Deviation Requests as necessary.
  • Inspects parts per the control plan.
  • May use Fabrivision to inspect parts.
  • Follows all safety guidelines.
  • Handles other essential tasks as assigned.
