About The Position

Met-Con, Inc. is seeking an experienced Fabrication Lead to join our team on 2nd shift in Cocoa, Florida. This hands-on leadership role oversees fitters and welders, coordinates daily workflow, and supports safety, quality, and production goals. The Fabrication Lead works closely with the Shop Foreman, Quality Control, and other departments to meet production schedules, maintain delivery deadlines, and ensure compliance with AISC standards. This position is based onsite in Cocoa, Florida, and is for 2nd shift.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience leading a structural steel fabrication team.
  • Strong knowledge of structural steel materials, welding, layout, fabrication, CNC equipment operation, and material handling.
  • Working knowledge of safety, quality, and cost-control standards.
  • Ability to follow and enforce company safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work 2nd shift, including overtime and Saturdays as needed.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Tekla EPM/GO preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Shop Foreman and other department leads to meet production goals and delivery deadlines efficiently.
  • Supervise fitters and welders while enforcing company safety and quality policies.
  • Assign daily work and delegate responsibilities to maintain an efficient workflow.
  • Assist fitters and welders with drawing interpretation, fabrication techniques, and safe work practices.
  • Communicate with the Shop Foreman and other leads regarding production schedules, deadlines, and changes.
  • Identify and report concerns involving safety, quality, processes, materials, consumables, or personnel.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance to help keep equipment operating properly.
  • Maintain an organized work area and support efficient production flow.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor team members to support their development and performance.
  • Set clear expectations, provide feedback, and encourage open communication.
  • Work with Quality Control to ensure compliance with AISC quality standards.
  • Assist Quality Control with dimensional inspections as needed.
  • Support the Shop Foreman with interviews, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, timecards, new-hire training, and employee concerns.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
