About The Position

The Lead Person role is responsible for ensuring that safety protocols are being followed, identifying and removing safety hazards, as well as ensuring the flow of product through the shop to meet customer demands. The Lead Person is responsible for assisting in scheduling, job assignments, process improvement, and supervision (excluding disciplinary procedures). The Lead Person will perform work in their classification as required. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in all plant safety initiatives and abide by corporate and local policies.
  • Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Actively engage in lean manufacturing principles and techniques. This includes, but is not limited to, actively participating in kaizen events when requested, continuously seeking improvement in their work area, and cooperating to ensure Cook Compression remains competitive.
  • Housekeeping and general organization of work area.
  • Applies feedback and provides peer-to-peer feedback to improve performance.
  • Work with the Manufacturing Supervisor and other Lead People to manage and prioritize staffing assignments to ensure customer demand and the production schedule are met.
  • Execute and coordinate employee training to ensure that procedures are followed and meet all quality requirements.
  • Use basic problem-solving skills to address issues that arise.
  • Report problems or concerns with quality, processes, equipment, material, and labor to the Manufacturing Supervisor.
  • Work closely with other members of the Jeffersonville team – Safety, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Supervisors, Quality, to resolve issues.
  • Provide job status information daily to Manufacturing Supervisor to prepare for 10:00 a.m. production meeting.
  • Observe, create, maintain, coordinate, and complete standard work.
  • Identify and support continuous improvement efforts within your work area.
  • Sustain and drive lean manufacturing and 5S activities.
  • Able to measure parts and make “go”/”no-go” determinations as appropriate.
  • Ensure prints, bill of materials, and routings are correct.
  • Update and monitor Production Status boards.
  • Attend and contribute to the 8:00 a.m. and/or the 3:00 p.m. white board meeting as requested.
