We currently have an opportunity for a Team Lead, Middle Market Unit to join the Annapolis, MD office. The Team Lead is responsible for managing a book of business and the operational functioning and development of one or more locations, while acting with a high degree of independent discretion, autonomy and decision-making.

Requirements

  • Ten years of commercial lines insurance experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of commercial lines coverages and markets.
  • Property and Casualty Insurance license.
  • High School diploma or equivalent; BA or BS degree preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Superior customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer systems, including but not limited to Microsoft Office and automated agency management systems.
  • Mastery of virtual technology, including meeting scheduling, video display and screen sharing.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • High level attention to detail is essential.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and team-building skills.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience
  • High school or equivalent

  • Advanced professional designation highly desirable (i.e. ARM, CIC, CPCU)

Responsibilities

  • Performs Account Manager duties as outlined in one of the separately defined job descriptions (Account Manager, Senior Account Manager, Account Executive, Senior Account Executive.)
  • Provides professional, courteous service to our clients, carrier representatives, underwriters, business partners, and HUB colleagues.
  • Provides a high level of support to the Director of Commercial Lines, Chief Sales Officer, and Regional President in obtaining, maintaining and expanding business.
  • Attends operational meetings as outlined by leadership; sharing, training and implementing learned strategies within the local office.
  • Performs desk audits within the office, as directed by leadership and then assists with coaching staff individually on any improvements identified as a result of the audit.
  • Coordinates and conducts HUB training for local office staff in conjunction with Regional Trainer
  • Coordinates and conducts training for local office staff on local carrier markets guidelines, requirements, web portals, etc.
  • Provides assistance in the recruiting and hiring process and participates in the new hire onboarding process.
  • Assists with training plans for new and existing local office staff.
  • Champions communication of goals, vision, and procedures developed by the leadership teams.
  • Contributes to a positive office environment and champions the creation and continuation of a culture of teamwork.
  • Works with local leadership, Accounting, Human Resources, and others to assist with the implementation of regional projects and directives.
  • May be required to immediately and effectively address and resolve employee performance concerns utilizing Regional Human Resources and Operations resources as necessary.
  • May direct employee workflow, workload and overall performance.
  • Provides feedback to management and employees about service structure to improve performance and productivity.
  • May coordinate time off within department or location to ensure service level and appropriate reporting of time off.
  • May assist in assuring client service standards are being met.
  • May conduct or assist with annual performance reviews for direct reports.
  • Answers clients/employees questions in a timely manner.
  • Answers phone inquiries and addresses problems.
  • Travels on company business as required.
  • Prepares reports for management as required.
  • Attends industry related continuing education training and courses.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
