Fort Bend County is seeking a Teaching/Personnel Assistant for the Sheriff's Office. This role involves responding to and screening telephone calls, answering inquiries, and referring them to the appropriate person. The assistant will manage academy course reservations, serve as registrar for in-service training, and prepare, distribute, and verify documents, inputting data into a computer database. They will also notarize documents, prepare class documents using Google Drive, and maintain employee records and files on outside training. Additionally, the role includes preparing payroll for assigned departments, generating monthly reports, and recording minutes for Advisory Board Meetings. Responsibilities also extend to collecting and depositing tuition receipts, handling fees, reconciling money accounts, maintaining inventory, requisitioning supplies, and ordering office supplies. The assistant will prepare all copy work and visual aids for training courses, distribute a quarterly training calendar, and coordinate instructors for in-service training. They will update training and education information with the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education, administer TCOLE Licensing Exams, and administer entry-level testing for Academy applicants. The role also involves coordinating Basic Peace Officer Certification graduation activities and TCOLE exam dates for Basic Peace Officer and Jailers Certification. Participation in emergency management activities during a local state of disaster is also required as directed by county managers.
