The Teaching Fellow role is an opportunity to teach at The Equity Project (TEP) Charter School and develop into a Master Teacher within a community of experienced educators. Fellows work as lead teachers in one 5th-, 6th-, 7th-, or 8th-grade class, leading some instructional periods and co-teaching with a Master Teacher during others. Each Fellow teaches one subject to one grade level in a given year, though grade level or subject may change in future years. Teaching Fellows collaborate with co-teachers to facilitate lessons that include small-group instruction and individualized feedback to support student achievement and progress. TEP’s program is built around Academics, Arts, and Athletics, with a focus on fostering a classroom culture that builds a genuine love of learning. The role combines teaching responsibilities with a priority on professional growth. Middle School teachers work in TEP’s school building in the Washington Heights/Inwood community. The facility includes innovative classroom settings, a full gymnasium, a high-tech performing arts space, and an indoor/outdoor café where meals are prepared fresh daily for students and staff. TEP aims to advance educational equity for students from historically underserved communities through world-class teaching and by reimagining teaching as a profession in which educators grow as pedagogical experts, intellectual seekers, and community leaders. Applicants must submit a resume, cover letter, and one teaching-and-learning submission: a portfolio of student work, class assessment data, or an original curricular tool, accompanied by a written narrative.
