About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for a Teaching Assistant for the SPMA3P82 Professional Preparation for Internship Course for the Fall D2 term. Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds. Employees who do NOT hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate - $23.30 per hour. Employees who hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate - $36.67 per hour. In cases where additional duties are required as part of a Teaching Assistant’s duties, these hours shall be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate. The duties and responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant shall be in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement. These are made up of scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (including preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration as may be required.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be at least a fourth-year student student currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Sport Management, or equivalent
  • The successful applicant must have effective communication skills including the ability to explain subject material to students
  • Be punctual in attending classes
  • Be able to meet appropriate deadlines
  • Proven track record of working effectively with competent and quick marking turnaround

Nice To Haves

  • MA or higher will be given preference
  • Preferable to have taken the course with an 80% grade
