About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for a Teaching Assistant (TA) position for the course PSYC 3P59, Introduction to Human Neuropsychology, for the Winter 2025 academic term. Requirements

  • Must have completed or be enrolled in PSYC 5Y51/52 or PSYC 7Y51/52/53 OR Minimum 3rd Year complete and currently enrolled in a PSYC BA or BSc program, with an average of at least 80
  • Must have taken this course within the previous five years, and achieved a grade of at least 80
  • Must demonstrate a clear and thorough understanding of all aspects of the course to clearly explain all course topics
  • Must have strong writing and editing skills and a thorough understanding of APA writing style
  • Must have excellent oral communication skills
  • Must have the interpersonal qualities to be supportive of students and effective in leading group discussion
  • Must have strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to keep accurate records/manage data
  • Must have excellent time management skills in order to cover the required course material during the available seminar/lab or tutorial time
  • Must be adept at providing feedback to students in a constructive manner
  • Must be able and willing to present material/conduct seminars remotely
  • Must be able and willing to maintain contact with the instructor, fellow teaching assistants and enrolled students by email and audio-video conferencing and conduct seminars and office hours via audio-video conferencing in a timely-fashion
  • Must be available for on-campus activities during all scheduled seminar times

  • Previous successful experience as a TA in this course in an academic setting will be considered as equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Attending TA meetings as scheduled
  • Preparation of seminar materials
  • Proctoring and grading assignments, tests and examinations in a timely manner, and providing supportive and instructive written feedback
  • Holding office hours and answering student emails outside of scheduled student contact time
  • Maintaining accurate records
  • Helping students overcome difficulties that they may encounter when dealing with course material
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Instructor
