About The Position

Brock University is seeking to fill an existing vacancy for a Teaching Assistant for the course LABR 2P93 (History of the Global Working Class) for the Winter D3 term. This position is within the CUPE4207-1 Employee Group. The duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement, and include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time such as preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration. Compensation for Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator, and Lab Demonstrator positions is based on qualifications, with an undergraduate rate of $23.30 per hour and a graduate rate of $36.67 per hour (effective September 1, 2026). Additional duties will be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate.

Requirements

  • Achieved a minimum of 80% in the course
  • At least third- or fourth-year students currently enrolled in an LABR DEGREE, or who have completed an LABR DEGREE or equivalent
  • Effective communication skills including the ability to explain subject material to students
  • Punctual in attending classes
  • Able to meet appropriate deadlines
