About The Position

Brock University is seeking a Teaching Assistant for the FILM 3P03 course for the Fall D2-2 term. This position is within the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group). Compensation for Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator, and Lab Demonstrator positions is based on qualifications, with rates effective September 1, 2026. Undergraduate rate is $23.30 per hour for those without a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree. Graduate rate is $36.67 per hour for those with a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree. Additional duties will be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate. The duties and responsibilities are in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement, and include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time such as preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration.

Requirements

  • An Honours BA in Communication, Popular Culture, or Film Studies is required.
  • Candidates must have taken the course in question, or equivalent.
  • Strong writing and verbal skills required.
  • It is the applicant's responsibility to identify the course for consideration of equivalency.
  • For courses taken at Brock, identify course (i.e. XXXX 1F90).
  • For courses taken elsewhere, provide a transcript (a copy of your course and grade summary from your student self-service at that institute is sufficient); highlight the course and provide the course description.
  • Failure to provide the required documentation to support the request for consideration of equivalency will result in an incomplete application.
