About The Position
The Department of Supply Chain and Information Systems at Penn State University Park is hiring one part-time teaching assistant to start in fall 2026. The successful candidate will assist Dr. Wael Jabr for 15 hours per week during the academic semester. The work involves solving problems using Python and SQL, including MySQL; reviewing documentation for existing Python packages, debugging and evaluating those packages, and building on them. The assistant will also help write, debug, and proof SQL queries and Python code. The starting compensation is $16.00 per hour. Employment requires successful completion of background checks in accordance with University policies.
Requirements
- Proficiency in SQL, preferably using MySQL Workbench.
- A good understanding of Python.
- Must be a master's-level student in computer science, statistics, or a related discipline.
- Skilled in SQL and programming.
- Successful completion of required background checks.
Responsibilities
- Solve problems using Python and SQL, including MySQL.
- Review documentation for existing Python packages, debug and evaluate them, and build on them.
- Assist with writing, debugging, and proofreading SQL queries and Python code.
