About The Position

A Teaching Assistant is employed to assist the Course Supervisor as a Teaching Assistant in a classroom environment. A Teaching Assistant works under the guidance and supervision of the Course Supervisor who is responsible for setting the course objectives, content and method of instruction as well as final grades and grading practices of the course. Duties vary by course. This is a unionized contractual appointment. Teaching Assistants will be required on campus to perform their tasks in person. Should anything prohibit in-person teaching activities, courses will migrate to remote teaching. In the event of such a change, Teaching Assistants will be advised as soon as possible. Teaching Assistants may be required to perform tasks suited to a remote/online teaching environment using a virtual learning platform [e.g., Zoom, WebEx] and the McGill myCourses learning management system. Teaching Assistants must be available to work the entire contract period. This position is located in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec and you are expected to perform the work for this position in Quebec. McGill University is an English-language university where most teaching and research activities are conducted in the English language, thereby requiring English communication both verbally and in writing.

Requirements

  • Must hold an undergraduate degree.
  • Must be registered in a graduate program at McGill University in the Fall 2026 term.
  • Must be authorized to work in Canada.
  • Must be willing to work in the province of Quebec at the campus where the position is based / located.
  • Must be available to work the entire contract period.
  • Must be able to perform tasks in person on campus.
  • Must have English communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
