About The Position

The Teaching Assistant supports course faculty in instructing students in the nursing education program and is responsible for classroom and laboratory teaching activities in assigned courses. The role supports the skills lab and clinical experiences for AASN or PN students, under the direction of a course faculty member or mentor. It also contributes to an outcomes-based, learner-centered culture through ongoing professional development that supports the individual and the college. The position reports to and is supervised by the Department Chair. The position is PRN, and the college will revisit continuation each semester.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in nursing; BSN RN.
Two to three years of experience.
Strong medical-surgical nursing experience in an acute hospital setting.
Provide evidence of recognized professional competence.
Working knowledge of the nursing process.
Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Registered Nurse.
Must have proven or presumptive scholarship in the subject matter field.

Responsibilities

Assist course faculty or a mentor with instruction in classroom, clinical, and laboratory settings, including settings where care is delivered to individuals or groups.
Coordinate learning experiences with appropriate clinical staff.
Contribute to course planning under the guidance of course faculty or a mentor.
Attend course meetings.
Support Undergraduate Nursing Department operations and goals.
Serve on an Undergraduate Nursing committee, sub-committee, or task force.
Support college operations and goals.
Maintain professional competency as required by the Ohio Board of Nursing and job outcomes.
