About The Position
The Youth Development Center Teaching Assistant nurtures and educates children ages 3–5 in a licensed childcare and preschool environment at the Family Wellness facility in Mandan, North Dakota. The role supports children’s early development through play and an age-appropriate curriculum, while helping maintain a safe, organized, and positive classroom. The position is full time, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Requirements
- Embody the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
- Complete CPR and First Aid certification and Child Abuse prevention training within 90 days of hire; training is provided by the YMCA.

- Prior experience working in an early childhood or educational setting.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a positive role model and guide for young children.
- Implement age-appropriate curriculum and weekly lesson plans written by the classroom Teacher.
- Follow safety procedures to prioritize children’s safety and security.
- Build positive relationships and communicate with parents by providing updates and answering questions.
- Help keep the classroom and equipment clean and organized.
- Respond promptly and effectively to unexpected situations and emergencies.
- Participate in staff meetings and contribute ideas and insights.
