About The Position

Brock University is seeking a Teaching Assistant for the GEOG 3P22 - Quantitative Research Design and Methodology course for the Winter D3 term. This position is part of the CUPE4207-1 employee group. The role involves scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom duties such as preparing seminar material, student consultation, marking, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration. Compensation varies based on the employee's degree qualifications, with rates effective September 1, 2026. Employees without a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate of $23.30 per hour, while those with such degrees will be paid the graduate rate of $36.67 per hour. Additional duties will be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate. The position is subject to course enrollments and budgetary approval. Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in or have completed a postgraduate degree or have completed a Honours Degree in Geography or equivalent.
  • Completion of 4 full credits in Geography with an overall average of 75% or higher in all Geography courses completed (or equivalent).
  • Completion of GEOG 2P12 (or equivalent) with a final grade of 75% or higher.
  • Demonstrated successful undergraduate teaching experience or equivalent small group leadership in an undergraduate context.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet stipulated deadlines.
  • Experience conducting quantitative analysis.
  • Understanding of how to use R software.
  • Applicant must make a case in their cover letter that their qualifications are equivalent to those required above.
  • Members shall not accept any appointment which, taken together with all other appointments at the University, would cause the member to exceed the maximum number of regular hours (i.e., not overtime hours) allowable in a work week under the Employment Standards Act, as amended from time to time.
  • It is the responsibility of the member to accept only as many appointments (i.e. hours of work) as will allow their to successfully complete the duties assigned for each appointment.
