About The Position
AoPS Academy is seeking an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support student learning and foster an engaging, collaborative classroom environment. This role involves assisting instructors with curriculum, providing one-on-one student support, managing classrooms of up to 16 students, grading assignments, and building positive relationships with students and staff to encourage academic growth and curiosity.
Requirements
- Must be 16 years old or older
- Possess strong math skills with the ability to help students navigate advanced concepts
- Exceptional written and spoken communication
- Positive and encouraging attitude that helps students feel comfortable asking questions
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US
- Candidates must be located in Vienna or the greater DMV area and must be able to commute to our campus.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with/interest in working with younger students strongly preferred
- Familiarity with the AoPS curriculum is a plus
Responsibilities
- Assist instructors with company-created curriculum and materials, helping advanced students grasp complex concepts.
- Work one-on-one with students during class activities and provide additional help when needed.
- Help maintain an organized learning environment and assist in managing up to 16 students.
- Assist with grading and providing constructive feedback on student work.
- Connect with students and staff members to encourage their learning journey and academic growth.
- Help create an environment that promotes critical thinking and academic curiosity.
