About The Position

SEEDS Ecology & Education Centers is hiring a part-time Teaching Assistant for its EcoSchool afterschool and summer youth programs at Marion Elementary School in Marion, Michigan. The role supports elementary-aged students through academic, social, and emotional enrichment in a safe, caring community. The assistant helps plan and deliver lessons, maintains a clean and safe learning environment, follows applicable program standards, and collaborates with site staff, students, families, and school staff. The position also involves completing required training, submitting accurate documentation on time, and developing skills that contribute to program quality and student experience. A teaching credential or college degree is not required.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years old.
Be comfortable and effective working with youth.
Communicate well and stay organized.
Be willing to learn and follow SEEDS’ and State of Michigan program requirements.
Pass required background checks.
Have or be willing to obtain First Aid/CPR certification.
Meet applicable child-care licensing qualifications.

Nice To Haves

Additional school-age training.
Direct experience working with school-aged children.

Responsibilities

Work directly with students to provide academic, social, and emotional enrichment through after-school and summer programs.
Assist in planning and delivering lessons.
Maintain a clean and safe learning environment and ensure compliance with MiLeap and SEEDS program standards.
Collaborate with site staff and build positive relationships with students, families, and school staff.
Contribute to a cooperative team environment.
Complete required trainings and submit accurate documentation on time.
Develop skills that enhance program quality and student experience.
