Teaching Assistant - Special Education
About The Position
Granby Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to serve as a Job Coach at the BEAR Transition Academy. This role supports young adults ages 18–22 as they prepare for life beyond school by developing essential vocational, independent living, and interpersonal skills in real-world community settings. The Teaching Assistant will provide hands-on guidance at local job sites, helping students learn workplace expectations, communicate effectively with supervisors, interact professionally with coworkers, and build the confidence and skills needed for greater independence and future employment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work with young adults aged 18-22.
- Skills in guiding and coaching individuals in vocational and life skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience and dedication to supporting student independence.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in special education.
- Experience as a Job Coach or in a similar role.
- Knowledge of community resources for employment and independent living.
Responsibilities

Benefits
